When the Henry Mancini Institute operated as a summer institute in Los Angeles from 1997 to 2006, its founders similarly broadened the horizons of over 800 young musicians and introduce them to new musical genres they may never have performed before. These talented LA HMI alumni trained with such film music legends as Jack Elliott, Patrick Williams, Elmer Bernstein, Jerry Goldsmith, James Newton Howard, Randy Newman and many more. They performed at an annual HMI summer music festival and gala, presented community concerts and worked with wonderful guest faculty whose mentorship will long be remembered.
Special thanks to our alumni and donors who have contributed to the Henry Mancini Institute at the Frost School of Music this year. Contributions are most appreciated and vital to the Institute’s growth. All HMI alumni received scholarships to help launch their careers and we encourage you to give back to help provide the same opportunity to others.
