Kristin Baird Violin | HMI Fellow

DMA Violin Performance.

Kristin Baird is passionate about bringing music to diverse audiences as both a performer and educator. As the Teaching Artist of the Florida Orchestra, Ms. Baird performed regularly with the Florida Orchestra while also working to strengthen local public school orchestra programs. Prior to the Florida Orchestra, Ms. Baird performed with the New World Symphony. Ms. Baird has attended the Aspen Music Festival, Spoleto Music Festival, the European Union Youth Orchestra, and the Schleswig-Holstein Musik Festival.

A certified Suzuki Instructor, Ms. Baird maintained a private violin and viola studio at the Oberlin Community Music School. Ms. Baird has lead masterclasses, sectionals, eurythmic classes, orchestra rehearsals, and performances at the Cleveland School of the Arts, CityMusic Kids, Academia Filmarmónica de Medellín, and the Old Donation School. Ms. Baird helped organize Classical Revolution St. Pete, the newest branch of the national organization Classical Revolution.

Ms. Baird is currently pursuing her DMA at the University of Miami with Professor Scott Flavin. She received a BM and MM in Violin Performance from the Cleveland Institute of Music. Her teachers include Ara Gregorian, Paul Kantor, Joan Kwuon, William Preucil and Carolyn Stuart. Ms. Baird received her Suzuki certification under the guidance of Kimberly Meier-Sims.
